The model answers in a predefined format such as JSON so that software can process the answer directly.

Instead of free text, the model returns, for example, an object with the fields “category”, “urgency” and “summary”. Many APIs can enforce that the output matches a given schema exactly.

Structured outputs are the basis for reliably integrating AI into business processes, databases and automations.
