Agent-to-agent (A2A)
Also: Agent2Agent
An open protocol through which AI agents from different vendors communicate and hand over tasks.
While MCP connects agents with tools and data, A2A governs collaboration between agents: one agent can discover another’s capabilities, hand it a subtask and receive the result.
The protocol was introduced by Google in 2025 and later handed over to an open foundation. It aims to prevent agents from working only within a single vendor’s ecosystem.
