Copyright and AI

Two issues are central: first, whether and under what conditions copyrighted works may be used for training – court cases and political debates are under way worldwide. Second, whether purely AI-generated content is protected by copyright at all; in many legal systems protection requires a human intellectual creation.

In practice: observe the providers’ licence terms, do not deliberately imitate protected characters, brands or the styles of well-known artists, and document the human creative contribution for important works.
