Embedding
Also: Embeddings · Vektor · Einbettung
A representation of text, images or other data as a list of numbers (vector) that captures its meaning.
An embedding model translates a sentence, for example, into a vector of hundreds or thousands of numbers. Sentences with similar meaning receive similar vectors – even if they use different words.
Embeddings are the basis for semantic search, recommendations, clustering and RAG. They make it possible to search large document collections by meaning rather than just keywords.
