Computer vision recognises objects, faces, text (OCR), production defects or anomalies in medical scans, for example. Typical tasks are classification, object detection and segmentation.

For a long time convolutional neural networks (CNNs) dominated; today transformer models and multimodal models that process images and text together are increasingly used.
