Algorithm
An unambiguous sequence of steps used to solve a problem or complete a task.
An algorithm is like a precise recipe: it defines which steps are carried out in which order. Classic software consists of algorithms that people formulate entirely themselves.
In machine learning, by contrast, the algorithm describes how a model learns from data. The result of that learning – the trained model – then contains rules that nobody wrote down explicitly.
