Chatbot and AI assistant

Early chatbots followed fixed conversation flows and only recognised certain keywords. Modern AI assistants are based on large language models and can answer open questions, write text, summarise documents or explain code.

Many assistants can also search the web, read files or operate tools. As a result, the term is increasingly shifting towards AI agent.
